Peter Zumthor dá grande importância à experimentação dos materiais, onde alia processos de construção arcaicos. Para esta capela ele usou uma estrutura de 112 troncos de árvore, fazendo uma “tenda” coberta por um corpo de betão. Depois manteve-se uma fogueira a arder durante três semanas no seu interior, o que permitiu soltar os troncos do betão deixando o seu odor e memória gravados na parede.
Peter Zumthor gives great importance to the testing of materials, which combines archaic construction processes. To this chapel he used a structure of 112 tree trunks, making a "tent" covered by a concrete body. Then maintained a fire burning on the inside for three weeks, allowing to release the logs from the concrete leaving their odor and memory stored in the wall.
